Not to scare you new parents/mammas-to-be, but the first few weeks, months or however long it takes of not sleeping is, in my opinion one of the first challenges of parenthood. Rest assured (no pun intended) you will get through it.
Matteo slept through the night after about 2 months. From the day he was born during sleep-time he had his own room and we kept it very dark, somewhat quiet, and cozy. NO blankets, pillows or bumpers etc., just plain baby mattress in crib. Knock on wood but going on two years now Matteo sleeps VERY regularly, 2 hour naps and he goes to bed at about 9pm and wakes up around 11AM.
Babywise is all about schedule and has some other helpful tips, some of which, hindsight I wish I had implemented but didn’t. I personally think it is worth the read and pick and choose what works for you. I have not read the other books in the series yet.
Hubby and I were out about and I was multi-tasking, perfecting my waddle and trying to induce labor! Out of nowhere this burley biker dude strikes up a conversation, “Have you read Babywise? I highly recommend it.” Then he rode off into the sunset! Biker-dude where ever you are, thanks for the recommendation.
